Camden Park Greenbelt

Elk Grove Family Portraits at

Willow trees. A lakeside trail. A bridge that families fall in love with every single time.

Camden Park Greenbelt is one of those locations that feels like a well-kept secret — tucked into a quiet Elk Grove neighborhood, winding alongside a scenic lake, shaded by some of the most beautiful willow trees I've ever photographed a family under. Whether we work the bridge, the waterfront, or the canopied trail, this greenbelt delivers something genuinely special in every season.

Why do I love this location?

What makes Camden Park Greenbelt stand out is its combination of variety and intimacy. The 3-mile loop trail winds through a peaceful residential greenbelt alongside a scenic lake, shaded by a mix of large trees — including sweeping weeping willows that hang over the water in a way that looks almost cinematic in photos.
Unlike some of my other Elk Grove locations, Camden Park Greenbelt has a quieter, more tucked-away feel. It doesn't draw big weekend crowds, which means your session feels relaxed and unhurried. Families tend to loosen up faster here — and that ease shows in the photos.
Depending on your family's style and energy, we can work in completely different parts of the greenbelt:
The willow trees by the lake are dreamy and romantic — perfect for families who want something soft, organic, and a little magical. The way those branches frame a family portrait is unlike anything else in Elk Grove.
The bridge on the trail is a perennial favorite — great for walking shots, candid laughing moments, and any family who wants a mix of posed and natural-feeling images. It's a simple but striking element that adds depth and structure to a gallery.
The shaded trail offers dappled light through a canopy of varied trees, which gives us beautiful, even light even on brighter days — and creates a lush, layered backdrop that makes portraits pop.

Best Time to Book Your Session Here

Fall (October – November)
The trail comes alive in fall with warm foliage and golden light filtering through the tree canopy. The willow trees take on a softer, more amber quality, and the lake reflects all that warm seasonal color. Fall sessions here are rich, moody, and absolutely stunning.

Spring (March – May)
Spring is when the greenbelt feels most alive. The willows leaf out in the most vibrant green imaginable, wildflowers dot the trail edges, and the lake is calm and glassy. The soft spring light is incredibly flattering, and the whole setting has an energy that families respond to naturally.

Summer (June – August)
Summer sessions are timed around golden hour — the last hour before sunset — when the light drops low and warm over the lake and the long shadows of the willow branches create beautiful patterns across the trail. It's a gorgeous time to shoot here, especially for families who want that warm, glowing, sun-kissed look.

What to Wear

Spring & Summer Sessions Bright, light colors shine here against the lush greenery and water. Soft whites, sky blue, blush, sage green, and pale yellow all look fresh and vibrant. Keep things airy and coordinated — the natural setting does the rest.

Fall Sessions Go warm and earthy. Rust, mustard, olive, tan, camel, and deep burgundy all complement the golden fall foliage beautifully. Layers and textures are especially wonderful at this location in fall.

For all seasons: Coordinate your family's outfits around one anchor piece rather than dressing everyone identically — it creates a natural, timeless result. Avoid neon colors, large logos, and busy patterns. The greenbelt's lush, layered backdrop rewards thoughtful, tonal dressing.
